A cd that made it out of the pile and onto my computer is the self-titled debut cd from the mind-meltingly beautiful The Sunbathers. The name is fitting, the songs are summery and sing-a-long –y, what better way to tell you that, since it’s the start of the Swimming Season here, normal service will be even slower than before. We’re likely to stop posting for a couple of months, but that’s not to happen without posting a summer mix before. Yes, a downloadable one.
If you didn’t buy this from Dufflecoat Records don't dilly dally cos it’s unsurprisingly, nearly sold out now.
They sound quite a bit like the Marine Girls obviously but the stripped-down instrumentation and Julie’s voice make me think more of Grab Grab The Haddock, because Julie’s voice is close to Alice Fox’s from that band, if anyone understands what I’m talking about here.
Check out this intriguing “about” section on their website that contradicts the summery context I’ve put their music in, apparently they don’t like sunbathing much either!

Love this so much. It also kind of reminds me of Lois's first couple albums on K.
